Rykin Data Corporation was a database corporation that collected digital information and patented D.I.R. programs.
On January 21, 2004, the company applied for a patent on a revolutionary new program that could purge all of a subject's data, hence its name, the Clean Slate. In light of this, Daggett Industries bought out the company in order to retrieve the program; only for Daggett to discover that the program was most likely not real.
